Toronto, Ont., July 14th. Rev. CP. Mulvany, lately of Sackville, who recently published a volume of poems in this city, has received congratulatory address from Hon. Mr. Gladstone and Herbert Spencer. Fredericton, July 14th. A boy named Meiggs, about nine years old, whose parents live on Waterloo Row, died yesterday afternoon from taking an overdose of sulphur in molasses. The French National Holiday. Celebrations in Paris and at Montreal. Paris, July 14th. The National Fete, in celebration of the anniversary of the destruction of the Bastille, began in earnest last night. Tire Boulevards and other great through fares were so crowded that circulation was almost impossible. President Grevy held a brilliant reception and the Municipal Council gave a reception to the delegates of all the Provincial Town Councils. Montreal, July 14th. The anniversary of the Destruction of the Bastille is being celebrated by old county Frenchmen, who have gone on an excursion to Le Grosbois, and who will have a banquet to-night.
