KINGSTON, June 20. - Sir Hector Langevin made an important address here this evening. After surprising his hearers by stating that he was an old Kingstonian, having lived with his father here over 50 years ago, he said it was a mere matter of chance that a man was born a French Canadian. Some might be born Scotch, others Irish, others French and others English Canadians, but all were Canadians. (Loud applause.) This French Canadians were loyal without doubt. Had they not fought shoulder to shoulder with Britons against the Americans in order to preserve Canada as a British possession? Then why should French Canadians be charged with disloyalty? (Cheers.) He hoped these charges would soon cease to be heard. No man had a right to utter them, as they were untrue. Sir Hector closed his address by saying that Quebec would again be found supporting Sir John’s government.
