Loyalist at Home. Dr. A. A. Stockton, K. C., presided at the At Home given by the Loyalist Society last evening. After reading a letter of regret from Rev. Canon and Mrs. DeVeber, Dr. Stockton announced that in future Loyalist Day would be officially recognised by the dominion government ordering the firing of a salute on that day. Dr. Stockton delivered an eloquent address on the Loyalists, and was followed by D. R. Jack, who read a very interesting paper on the same subject. Rev. Dr. Raymond referred to the sufferings and sacrifices of the Loyalists, and Dr. Dole read the ode written by him for the centennial of the landing of the Loyalists in 1883. Mayor White, Recorder Skinner, Hon. R. J. Ritchie, Dr. Dole and W. M. Jarvis also made interesting speeches. A musical programme was carried out by G. C. Coster, Messrs Beveridge, Appleby and D. Arnold Fox. Refreshments were also served.
