Annual Meeting of the Loyalist Society. The Loyalist Society held their annual meeting in the rooms of the Historical Society last evening, Mr. Justice Palmer in the chair. The minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted. The secretary, Mr. J. A. Belyea, read the names of the following persons who have been added to the membership of the society daring the past year: Messrs. D. McLellan, David V. Roberts, C. W. Roberts, David S. Roberts, Geo. H. Tapley, Gaspard Tapley, Edward Tapley, John H. Harding and Chas. Harding. The standing committee reported that although the meetings had not been largely attended, the work of collecting information about the Loyalists had been carried on. The committee made reference to last year’s successful conversazione, and suggested that this year there be a dinner to celebrate May 18tb, and later on, an excursion to some historic spot on the river, if possible. Mr. T. B. Robinson moved, seconded by Mr. Jas. Hannay, that the report be taken up section by section. Carried. There was considerable argument as to whether a conversazione or a dinner should be hold, and it was finally decided in favor of the dinner. Mr. Hannay moved that the latter portion of the report, in regard to an excursion, be referred to the standing committee of the society, with power to act. Carried. The secretary read a letter from Sir Leonard Tilley, regretting his absence from the meeting on account of illness. He would, he said, however, heartily co-operate with the officers of the society, in arranging for the anniversary celebration. Mr. D. H. Waterbury, treasurer, reported a balance of $27 in the hands of the society. It was moved and seconded that Mr. Waterbury be relieved, in the matter of the sum of $25, funds of the society, which were destroyed in Mr. Waterbury’s apartment in the custom house. Carried. The election of officers for the ensuing year was proceeded with, and resulted as follows: Sir Leonard Tilley, president; Sir John B. Allen, Mr. Justice Palmer and Dr. Wm. Bayard, vice-presidents: James Hannay, historian; Philip Palmer, treasurer; J. A. Belyea, secretary; Herbert Tilley, assistant secretary; R. C. Skinner, corresponding secretary; Mayor Peters and Geo. Earle, James Manning, C. N. Skinner, D. R. Jack, J. D. Hazen, and T. B. Robinson. The meeting than, adjourned.
