THE TRANSCRIPT has throughout declared its willingness to support any Acadien giving an independent support to the Blair Administration who was selected by representative Acadiens themselves as their choice. It never said and never insisted that “a straight pledge” should be exacted; but its editorial utterances were that the candidate ought to promise an independent support to the government so far as compatible with the interests of the Acadian people – a position entirely different from that assigned to us by the Times.
