MR. EDITOR, -- I see by an editorial in the Times to-day that I am accused of writing certain letters criticising the Landry banquet, after writing a report of that affair. I positively deny all connection with those letters. I did not write them, and now the Times must stand branded as a liar of the deepest dye. I did write a report of the banquet as best I could, and I cannot see any reason why the Botsford street sheet should pick at me for the letters criticising the banquet. Perhaps the editor judges me by his own way of doing business. Far from doing so, I took a deep interest in the affair nationally. The Times hereafter should be sure of its man and look before it jumps. I think, considering the ugly manner in which I have been treated by the Times, I deserve an apology. Yours, &c., PETER J. VENIOT.
